National Pluto Day and Chocolate Mint Day
I'm one of those who doesn't want to accept the demotion
of Pluto as a planet and still want to celebrate him. Outer space was one of the few
things in school that actually interested me and I remember feeling so
accomplished in elementary school learning all the planets in order.
Pluto was discovered in February 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh and named by an 11-year-old
girl named Venetia Burney who loved mythology.
National Pluto Day is on February 18.
Here's a greeting card to send a hello note to someone
if you still like to acknowledge Pluto as a planet, too.
Do you like chocolate mint ice cream, mint Oreos, or those
fabulous thin mints the Girl Scouts sell each year?
February 19 is the day to indulge if you do.
It's said when the Europeans discovered chocolate
from the Mayans and Aztecs they didn't care for the
bitter taste and usually drank hot chocolate to which they added
mint, cinnamon, other spices, and eventually sugar.
Speaking of the Girl Scouts thin mints, they were first sold in 1953
and are still their most popular cookie.
Here's a greeting card if you have a friend with a sweet tooth
for chocolate mint.
