Nevada Desert Minimalism Photo Art

Exploring the desert, I see a lot of interesting areas like this, most likely remnants of a pasture in a ghost town and they just used what they had at the time. Bits of this and that to build a fence. No one around for miles. I like to imagine what it was like.

A lone windmill is sometimes all that is left in an area. Maybe a few fence posts and barbed wire from a pasture that once held animals. People moved on from one small mining operation to another back in the day.

The desert is a unique landscape with a vast vista, and being able to see for miles is a comfort and pleasure. It has a unique energy and desert bathing is very nourishing just like forest bathing. When I do come upon ghost town remnants I like to stop and see what would be interesting to make into a photo.

February 2023 heavy rains in Death Valley and it was wonderful to be out in it for the colors and reprieve from the sunshine. The desert smells so sweet after a rain. It is especially nice in the hottest and driest National Park in the U.S. The heavy rainfall really changes the landscape quickly, washing out the dirt roads and exit routes.

This is the kind of road that leads to fun discoveries of the old ghost towns where there are rock houses, maybe an old car or two, rickety fences and barnyard pens. The things I love to make photos of and sketch. Also, springtime, a nice time of year to be out
before the sun blazes.
