Handmade Sketchbook Bachelor Buttons & Chamomile

I stopped in at the North Tahoe Art Gallery
and found this display of handmade art journals
by Penny Pemberton who was featured on PBS ArtEffects.
Had to have one.
It's decorated with real wildflowers and has lovely
100% cotton Stonehenge archival deckled paper inside.

I've started to record my garden awakening.
I like the different stages of growth.
The paper is a treat to work on and
tolerates watercolor nicely.

Old-fashioned and sentimental at heart,
I enjoy saying thank you or sending
thank you notes.
Thank you kindly is one of my favorites.

I have an area in my garden that is gravel
and many types of wildflower seeds have found a home there
including my favorite bachelor buttons.
They are really tall now and needed recording
in my new journal.

Are you a button collector?
You can make someone smile wearing this one.

I thought my chamomile would look nice
sketched in green so I dug out a few
of my green ink pens.
When I add a touch of watercolor they bleed
a bit and mingle with the yellow and turquoise nicely.

I put them on a sea green background
to make the delicate white petals pop.
