National Umbrella Day February 10

February 10 is National Umbrella Day.

The first painting above I had in mind a couple 

watching a nice sunset. At first I was pleased with the warm colors.

I let it rest for a night.

The next day I looked at it and thought - Fire!

Looks like they are watching a fire. 

That's not the effect I was going for.    

In rethinking my color palette and the purpose

of the painting, which is for Valentine's Day

and National Umbrella Day, I chose wintery colors.

In researching Umbrella Day I learned that the 

first recorded umbrella was in 21 A.D. China.
