Pollinator Week Bugs and Birds Summer Solstice

I decided to draw a honeybee, butterfly, and hummingbird each day this week
in honor of pollinator week.
In 2006, the US Senate dedicated a week each year
raise awareness of the importance of pollinators
in the health of our ecosystem and crops.

A couple weekends ago we were out in the Reese River Valley area
and the roses were in bloom smelling incredibly sweet.

I've been able to capture a lot of bees on flowers
in my photographs over the years so I have a lot to draw
from in my collection.

My hummingbird feeder has been busy so far this season.
Actually, my yard has been really active with birds.
I have a pair of what I think are western Kingbirds
that have been resident birds lately.
The female likes to perch on my yard flag.
Then she hops down and flutters around a bit.
Robins and doves are frequent visitors, too.

One of my favorite summer garden visitors
are the tiger swallowtails. Sometimes I'll be outside
by the garden and one will just gently fly over the fence
and stay a while.

Happy Summer Solstice!
