Carson Valley Eagles Tour and Leadville Nevada
I joined the Carson Valley Eagles Tour February 8 and
we saw several eagles in trees.
Three in this tree.
This was in a neighborhood around Minden that had
a field behind the houses.
There were eagles and various hawks in
the trees in the area.
Then we went to Settelmeyer's Ranch in Douglas County
to see the new calves.
He said the eagles had been out there early around
feeding time eating their breakfast of the afterbirth.
The eagles hang out in the area until the
moms are distracted by eating.
The calving is done this time of year when it is
still cold to stave off disease.
I've listed new paintings on my Fine Art America site
of the area near the Black Rock desert and Leadville, a ghost town
I like to go to for wildflower painting.

It's unpredictable how the wildflowers will be in the area.
If it has been a really wet winter, it will be full of wildflowers,
and ticks too.
This is an old cabin that still stands up there.

I love drawing the pinyon pine, Nevada state tree, with the
gnarled twisting branches and rough bark.
I also admire the persistence of growing in rough,
rocky terrain, crevices, and rocky soil.
