Basil and Bachelor Buttons
Common basil means hate in the Language of Flowers. I was curious
about this and the only thing I could find was the Greeks and Romans believed
they needed to rant with insults and curses while they were sowing the seed.
The Romans considered it a magical plant sacred to Venus.
Bachelor Buttons symbolize single blessedness, hope in love, delicacy,
purity of feelings, and good fortune. The flower has several different names and Bachelor Button may come from the Victorian era. Single men

Cyanus is a Greek word for dark blue. Cyanus in mythology loved
Cornflowers and died on a bed of them, so the goddess Flora named
the flower after him.
Despite the common basil meaning, sweet basil means good wishes and love.
Basil is a member of the mint family and is high in vitamin A and antioxidants.
