State Bird Illustration Series Part Three
North Dakota is the "Peace Garden State" and the state bird is western meadowlark and wild prairie rose for the flower. I come from farm country in Idaho but North Dakota is the farming state with farms covering 90% of the land.
They grow more sunflowers than any other state.
Nebraska's nickname used to be "Tree Planter State" and was changed to "Cornhusker State" in 1945. It is the home of the Reuben sandwich - well done with that creation.
The state bird is the Western Meadowlark and Goldenrod for the state flower.
I LOVE this little bird. I'd never heard of it until I researched Oklahoma.
It is the scissor-tailed flycatcher. He has touches of salmon pink under his wings.

The state bird is the mockingbird and bluebonnet is the state flower. It's said to be named for its color and similarity in shape to a woman's sunbonnet.
