Skunk Harbor Lake Tahoe Hike and Mardi Gras Watercolor

 

I've been inspired to paint some Mardi Gras themed greeting cards lately with the tragedy/comedy masks and the harlequin pattern is a nice challenge to paint. 

 

When doing a little research for Mardi Gras I learned that is French for "Fat Tuesday" and that the Fleur De Lis is a stylized lily or iris flower.  Neat.

 

We wanted to take a hike at Lake Tahoe before any more storms hit so we decided to explore Skunk Harbor.  Not sure why they call it Skunk Harbor, but as usual, it's beautiful!  

 

The Newhall mansion built in 1923.  A really nice solid rock mansion with an outdoor fireplace and patio in the back yard.  It sits up a bit from the lake with beautiful views.
