My Materia Medica Herbal Study Adventure

Well, I believe we all had different plans when 2020 dawned.
I know I did.
I've enjoyed commercial herbal teas, grown kitchen herbs,
and have been a loyal customer
of Mountain Rose Herbs for about ten years now
but since 2020 I've really delved into studying
herbs, essential oils, and learning more about the body's
healing process.
Which I think is really fascinating.

I took the beginner and intermediate courses of
study from The Herbal Academy
and learned how to make my own materia medica
pages for study.
And it seems flash cards are popular now
so, I made myself a set of those, too.
Which I now have on Zazzle.

Along with the cards I have a binder full of materia medica pages
that have all the information I've collected about each herb I'm
interested in.  Information I got from my classes as
well as from a variety of books. I love to go to the library
and do research to learn more.

I've joined those who reuse their jars for other things
and put my herbs in them. As well as my tea blends.
I love to spend a weekend morning getting my herbs
out and a large bowl to begin blending.
The tea blends can look really pretty.
One of my favorites I use often has:
Chamomile, Nettle, Red Clover, Hawthorn,
Roses, Lavender, and Calendula.
The petals of the last three make the blend really pretty.
I put 1/4 cup of the first four in the bowl and then
add a sprinkle of the last three.  They can be a bit "perfumy"
if there are too many.
Mix it up and put it into your clean reused/upcycled jar.
Add a pretty label.

If you happen to have an herbal business
or make your own blends to sell.

This business card was inspired by
Hildegard of Bingen who was born in 1098
and lived to be 81 years old which is
pretty remarkable for that time period.
She studied herbalism and practiced
natural medicine (as well as being a remarkable woman
of many roles throughout her life).
As we hear and read today,
"she advocated preventative measures, a balanced diet,
rest, and the holistic mind-body-spirit
connection to achieve wellness."

Cheers to your health!
