National Rubber Ducky Day, National Popcorn Day, Greeting Cards
Today is National Rubber Ducky Day in honor of
its birthday and first appearance on Sesame Street in 1970.
Very serious Bert tolerates Ernie playing with his rubber ducky
and doing his little laugh.
I think my favorite Sesame Street characters were
The Count and the googly-eyed Martians who only appeared now and then.
It's said in 1992 a shipment of thousands of rubber duckies fell off
a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean and some are still
floating around the ocean today.
National Popcorn Day is January 19.
Popcorn started becoming popular in the 1800's here in the U.S.
A candy store owner named Charles Cretors developed the first popcorn popper,
and around 1900 had horse-drawn wagons carrying his
popper, peddling popcorn through the streets of Chicago.
