Dittany Of Crete In The Language Of Flowers
Dittany of Crete means birth and love in the Language of Flowers.
It's been around since medieval times and has been used in a
variety of situations for medicinal purposes, for perfume, and flavoring in spirits.
It's said Dittany was given to the isle of Crete as a thank you gift by Zeus, where it still grows wild today and is said to be a protected plant.
It was used by Aphrodite and prescribed by Hippocrates.
It likes to grow on the steep rocky surfaces on the hills of the island.
The herb is said to act as an aphrodisiac and is given to
newlyweds on their wedding night to ignite their passion.
In the Harry Potter series it was a magical plant used in
potion making. In the stories it makes fresh skin grow over wounds.
Hermione also used to heal a snake bite Harry received
when they were attacked in Godric's Hollow.
Some still consider it a plant with magical qualities.
