Ocean Watercolor and Bridge Sketch

We visited the bay area so I got some practice sketching and painting waves.  They are a challenge for me, but I do like to study them to see their rhythm.  We were in a really rocky area near Pacific Grove.

I visited some parks and made a journal page of interesting things I found.  The kelp pod came from the beach but everything else is Nevada parks.

Kings Beach Lake Tahoe and Frog Fabric

We visited Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe in May and it was a really nice day.  We usually spend most of our time in south Tahoe so it was nice to walk around Tahoe City and spend some time on Kings Beach.  We went into the CalNeva Casino and saw the photos of the "Ratpack", lovely Marilyn and the many others that performed there or in the Tahoe area.  It's a neat casino.

I've been working with toads this week.  There is a Spoonflower fabric contest coming up with the subject of extinct animals and I chose the Golden Toad for my design. It hasn't been seen since 1989 and is considered extinct at present.  The male is golden color and the female is a mottled green with yellow tinged spots, poor thing....:)   Also the Oahu Tree Snail which has really nice pink and mauve colors and is considered extinct also. I thought it was a nice compliment to my toads.

Pink Poppy Flower and Boyfriend Birthday

Some projects I've been working on in my Zazzle shop.  Watercolor checks in spring green with a pink poppy flower and little blue wildflower buds.  Bright and cheery.

I'm almost finished with my birth month flower series!  This is has been a huge project.  I made these cards for both males and females and I just have December left to do.  It has been a good project but I'm ready for something new.  Think I'm going to participate in several Spoonflower fabric contests coming up.  They have some fun topics like pomegranates, stars and strips and extinct animals.  I'm eager to research extinct animals for that one.
